My Ties to Sweden

When I was 21 years old, I served an LDS (Mormon) mission to Sweden. I put my college education on hold, quit my job, and left my family and friends behind for 18 months to go live in Sweden and teach people about God, Jesus Christ and Heaven, among other things. I followed a strict set of rules, including no dating, no music (other than church music), no TV, no internet except to email my family and friends once per week, no non-church literature, etc... I was assigned a companion, another missionary girl, usually about  my same age, and we were required to be together 24/7, except for bathroom breaks and that kind of stuff, obviously.  Like I said, we walked around talking to people about our beliefs. It might sound like Hell to some of you but I had the time of my life! First off, Sweden was an amazing place to live. I loved it so much that when the time came for me to go home after 18 months, I considered just staying! I was also very lucky that most of my companions were awesome, so it was like being with a good friend all of the time, and many of these girls have remained good friends of mine long after our time together in Sweden. I learned to speak fluent Swedish, got to travel around the country a lot, and I met countless wonderful people, some religious, some not. It was a wonderful experience for me, a great time for growth and a time of my life that I will always cherish and remember. My beliefs in God and Jesus Christ became stronger and I learned things about life that I could not have learned elsewhere. Here are some pictures from my adventures in Sweden:

Ha det bra!
